RC Humane Society Website

I haven't had the chance yet to visit the Randolph County Humane Society yet.  However, I did go to their website and found out a lot of information about the shelter.  This Humane Society will not accept any animal that someone has left outside the shelter.  Any animal that is will be turned over to animal control where they most likely will be euthanized! I also was able to find out many different ways people can help out. You can become a member of the Humane Society and dues are used for programs like vet care and maintenance.  Businesses can become a sponsor of the humane society. People can provide a temporary foster home for an animal and make more space in the shelter for abandoned animals.  If you own a pet and feed them Purina brand food, you can cut out Weight Circles on the side of the bag and donate them. They can be converted into cash to cover some of the expenses the shelter has. You can even donate used electronics to help them raise money. I am excited to visit the shelter and I hope they will let me volunteer.

Dear Mr. Nadziejko and classmates,

I would like your permission to write about the Randolph County Humane Society located in Sparta, Illinois. This particular humane society is a no-kill animal shelter.  I chose this group to research because I love animals and have always had an interest in animal activists.  By doing my research on this subculture, I will not only have the opportunity to observe, but also volunteer at this facility.  I will also be able to visit the humane society frequently because they are open regular hours throughout the week.
During my research I will be gathering information about the shelter itself and the people who volunteer there. This shelter has it's own website which will be a good source of information.  I will be observing how the animals are treated at the shelter and the relationships between the animals and their temporary care takers.  I can ask the vounteers about some of their experiences while dedicating their time there. I can ask them how success stories about finding good homes for the animals. I can ask about their personal feelings about the animals they take in and the people who drop them off there.
I can also find out what it takes to adopt a pet from a humane society.  What questions do they ask a prospective adopter? Do they deny certain people from adopting an animal?  I can also write about all the different fundraisers this humane society holds in order to collect money.  There is a lot of information I can gather by observing and volunteering at this shelter and I would really like to research it.

Hi, my name is Lindsay. I am twenty one years old. I live in the very small town of Steeleville, Illinois. I am currently attending Southwestern Illinois College and am hoping to become a registered nurse one day and maybe working in the ob. Right now, I waitress at a small Italian restaurant.  It's not my favorie job, but it'll do for now. My life has dramatically changed over the last few years. I am a single mother to a very wonderful one and a half year old. He is the biggest part of my life. While being a parent is hectic and overwhelming at times, I love every minute with my little man. In my spare time I like to read, take pictures (usually of my son), and watch movies. I usually don't get the chance to watch much t.v. I love listening to music, although recently I've had a hard time finding anything I like. The main genre I used to listen to was rock, but now I find myself liking country more and more. I also like to go on long walks and occasionally jog. Shopping is also something I enjoy only if I have the money. I am very passionate about animals. Animal abuse breaks my heart.  My family is something that is very important to me. We are all very close and would do anything for each other. I have many blessings in my life and am grateful for all of them.
